1950 newspaper,60th gift idea,60th birthday present,Diamond wedding anniversary

1950 Times Newspapers.
In the last couple of weeks I have noticed an uptake of archive Times newspaper orders dating from 1950 and it wasn't until I sat down and worked it out that I knew the reason why. In 2010 people born in 1950 will be exactly sixty. 60th Birthdate papers make a brilliant gift idea to give to those people who say that they don't want a fuss and who seem to have got everything anyway, but the chances are that they won't have their own date of birth Times news paper.
I went in to the Papers Past, Truro 1950 Times archive and found a genuine, original paper for the fourth of January. Here are a few snippets from it:

Front page Birth Announcement: CHAPMAN. On 2 Jan 1950, at Brookfield Nursing Home, West Kirby to Jean (nee Franklin Hindle) wife of James J. Chapman - a daughter.

Some headlines: Fall in Teaching Standards
Schools Drained of Best Men
Salaries Warning
Television explained to children
New terms for purchase of Canadian Bacon
Britain has agreed to purchase 60,000,000 lb of bacon from Canada

A house advert: Harrods Estate Office, Tel. Kensington 1490
Ealing. First class situation on the Heymills Estate. Charming modern detached
residence. 3 double and one single bedroom, 2 reception rooms, Maids sitting
room, central heating throughout. Garage. Freehold £6000.

These rare 1950 old papers, when gift packed, make a unique 60th birthday gift or a wonderful present for a Diamond Wedding Anniversary. To order simply phone 01872 261220 any day between 9am and 9pm and ask for either Ian or Sam Willsher.
