Sunday Newspapers

Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph, Sunday Express.
Papers Past, despite acquiring old newspapers like crazy magpies, have not been able to get hold of many Sunday editions. Sundays are few and far between and, when available, often trade at a premium.
For pre-1990 dates most of the archive stock was purchased from Libraries, Government Departments and Universities in big bound volumes. They only opened and collected newspapers on Monday to Saturday. They were closed on Sundays and did not save that newspaper for their records - shame.
That is why, on the Delivery Info. page www.paperspast.co.uk/newspaperdelivery.html we exclude Sunday editions...but all is not lost.
...Dad (Ian) was born on Sunday 22nd July 1956 and I could not even find his Birthdate paper so I had a look at the following days paper and was thrilled to read in some detail the news and events of the 22nd - with that date either mentioned or referred to throughout the various articles. So, by getting the next day or even the day before, it was possible to get a really good insight in to the news and adverts from his birthdate.
Also, I treated Dad to one of the £2.99, 30 page Birthday Books for 22nd July which, together with the paper, tied everything back to the 22nd July.
So if you order a Sunday we'll send the Monday (which gives the Sunday's news) along with a short letter of explanation for you to personalise and enclose along with the newspaper gift.
Sunday problem solved - Dad loved it - well, he must have done as he's read most of the paper out to us about six times.
Sam.

70 years ago, birthday present for someone born in 1939

Papers past supply genuine, full and complete editions of 1939 newspapers which, when gift packed, make absolutely brilliant birthday presents. It's a real thrill for them to see their birthdate in print at the top of every page and, being from such a historical time, is a snap shot of life from 70 years ago.
Here are just some of the news reports from June '39 -
3rd June 1939 Britain's first military conscripts are enrolled.
7th June 1939 The King and Queen arrive on the first visit of a reigning British monarch to the United States of America.
7th June 1939 Several hundred Polish Jews are deported from Germany to Poland.
12th June 1939 750 planes a month are reported to being built for the RAF.
16th June 1939 The entire seaside town of Littlehampton has been sold by the Duke of Norfolk.
17th June 1939 The 34,000 ton line Mauretania leaves on her maiden voyage.
